Here in the Meadow

I run to the meadow where the grass is soft
Where the trees are tall
And songbirds aloft
They sing
They tweet
And dreams are sweet
Right here in the meadow I lie.

Mockingjay song reaches my ears
I’ve been forced to grow beyond my years
The games are on,
But I’m intact
Defiance will be my final act.

Some people sigh
And others,
They cry
But me?
I don’t do those sad things
I laugh in the faces
Of those who’ve disgraced me
I welcome my death with mirth.

The meadow I love
The meadow brings safety
The meadow is where
My loved ones embrace me.

This place is sacred
This place is true
“Here is the place
Where I love you.”
