The Winter Turning

They constantly tell me to be more like you
But they can’t tell from the surface
I don’t believe my dreams will come true
They sacrificed me for you
It’s the price they’d pay to stay on top
But one day,
And eye for an eye
And a brother for a brother
Cause they knew which one was better
But, oh, how I wish it wasn’t true
In my head it is
But in heart I think I’m truer
The sun would burn through you
While the moon guides my way
I see the winter turning
And betrayal in your eyes
The diamond path you cut
That predicted my demise
The way so many warriors meet a terrible dark foe
Though she wishes in her head nothing more than to go
No matter what I do
The hailstorm brings me down
He knows that he’s superior, stronger, and brave
He sees that I’m afraid
But he also loves me so
And lets me go unscathed.
