I’m Slipping Away

Sometimes things hurt far more than we know
More than we realize
More than we’d show.
We hide behind the mask of okay
We say “I’m fine”
But we’re slipping away.
We may try
But we lie
We deign to deny.
Do you see me?
Do you hear me?
Do you know?
I don’t think so.
I don’t want you to so you won’t

I cry sometimes when I’m alone
Cry so long the tears run dry.
But I try
Try to survive
Hold on when I’m losing it
Hold on when all I wanna do is let go.
No.
I’ll stay.
But don’t worry,
Hurry.
I’m slipping away
