Shy

Shy

by Emily Hampston

Shy sits in the back corner of class.

She slides silently into class every day, with her head down

Shy doesn’t look at anyone.

She doesn’t want to be called on.

Shy walks silently down the hallway, with her head held low.

Shy has pale skin, and long, dark hair, which she uses to hide her face.

She always wears jeans and a t-shirt, but never in bright colors.

On the rare occasion Shy talks, you can barely hear her calm, raspy, quiet voice.

Shy wishes she were invisible.
