The winners of the 2020 Voorheesville Short Story Contest have been announced! Judge Laurin Jefferson, a poet, PhD. candidate, adjunct professor, and editor, made her announcement last week, capping off the contest which started with the initial announcement to students in February and ended with the March 8 entry deadline. This year’s contest theme was Our Changing World.
The winners are:
- $500 Grand Prize: senior Erin Young with her story, “To You, in 20 Years”
- $300 Second Prize: junior Hannah Lewis with her story, “He’s All The Rage”
- $100 Third Prize: junior Krista Rivers with her story, “Nature’s Song”
- $50 Runner Up: junior Marius Mazzeo with his story, “Shark Fishing”
- $50 Runner Up: junior Peter Ruhren with his story, “Babushka”
All stories will appear on the Blackbird Review website (https://blackbirdreview.org/), and will be published in the Spring 2020 e-issue of the magazine, which will be released in June.
