Winners of the 2024 Voorheesville Short Story Announced!

Congratulations to the winners of the Voorheesville Short Story Contest! The theme of this year’s contest was “But there’s a Catch,” and these five stories took the theme and interpreted it in compelling and surprising ways.

The winners are:

  • First Place ($500): Ilian Medarov ’24, “Chronicles of a Con Artist”
  • Second Place ($300): Felicity Heckler ’24, “But There’s a Catch”
  • Third Place ($100): Noah Gibeault ’24, “Nyctous”
  • Runner-Up ($50): , Lindsey Wight ’25 “Twenty Two Point Six”
  • Runner-Up ($50): Ella Effinger ’25, “Opals and Willows”

All ten finalists’ stories will be published on our site starting Monday, and the the top three stories will be published in the Spring 2024 issue of The Blackbird Review. The spring edition will be out in June, and can be purchased from our online store.
