By the Seaside

Dig a grave in the sand

Watch the grains fly

Place my body in the pit and cover me up

I am heavy

Watch the sunset

Look at me

Look how I’m going back to sea

My mother

My love

Awaken me when I am soaked through

When the sand is in my hair, caked under my eyes, touching my cracked lips

And then only when the saltwater reaches my mouth walk away

Feel my body drift

Put me to rest

Watch me sink
