my dark brownish black hair as a bird’s nest of different shades of deep brown and jet black.
“Well what do you think” Claire signed. Her lips moved as she signed and I saw just how large they looked in the light.
I looked at Claire’s face in the mirror compared to mine. Her eyes did look larger with makeup and seemed to take up most of her face. By themselves her eyes were very big and re- minded me of anime cartoons. Her irises were a light turquoise blue that shined in the bathroom light made me think of how the sea might be in some far off land. I could easily sketch out her skinny thin nose with one short horizontal and one long vertical line. Her hair would also be simple like an early televi- sion cartoon with two squiggle lines that connect together at the bottom of her neck. Her body seemed looked very much like
a cartoon with an over exagger- ated face size and tiny arms and legs, stuck in gawky stages even though I knew she would even- tually grow out of it.
Her face and my face didn’t share any of the same kinds of features. Claire and I almost seemed like exact oppo- sites. Like re and water, black and white, we seemed complete- ly different, but at the same time we had so much in common. So much but yet so little.
