Welcome to the 2008-09 Edition of The Blackbird Review!
To all the excited readers,
I’ve never published anything be- fore, let alone be in charge of something, so this might possibly be the worst edi- tor’s column you have ever read.
Sorry.
I knew I liked writing when I accu- mulated seven diaries over the span of four years. Unlike most sane children, I wrote in all of them, nishing the major- ity with thoughts and stories that was utter nonsense to anyone who read it. I had a knack for creating completely odd concepts (say that three times fast) and writing them down on paper. I wrote a song at the age of seven that dealt with the trials and tribulations of a boy an- noying a girl and then the girl summons her older brother to intimidate the boy, then the boy rides off on his bicycle. The song was cleverly titled “Bicycle.” I’m not joking.
As you can see, I’ve always been a groundbreaking novelist, but I won’t bore you with my outstanding literary achievements such as “Bicycle.” Instead, read what my peers have written and observe their art. They will surprise you.

Dear Readers,
The Blackbird Review is nally back! Although it was not released last year, we are back and ready to bring some interesting prose and poetry pieces to Voorheesville’s beloved literary magazine. Although I have never been an editor-in-chief of the student literary magazine, I was in fact the editor- in-chief of The Helderbarker two years ago. I enjoy writing poetry and making art, and hope that I will be able to release at least one other edition of The Blackbird Review this school year.
Unlike some of the other staff mem- bers of The Blackbird Review, I have never written a book, but I do enjoy leisurely writ- ing. I have always enjoyed reading work written by others, and have written a myr- iad of Helderbarker articles throughout my high school career. The preceding 2008 school year edition of The Blackbird Review entails a very witty and well-written letter from the editor. Although I am less witty and have never written seven diaries in my youth, I found myself chuckling at Megan’s humor as well as missing last year’s Black- bird Review staff. I hope that this 2009 edi- tion matches up to last year’s, and I hope all readers will enjoy reading the creative and ctional writing of their fellow classmates and enjoy to see some recent student art- work.
